Before I arrived at BarCamp, I wasn’t expecting there to be such a large group of high-caliber developers there. Wow, was I ever mistaken. I was also surprised by the large number of freelancers, tele-commuters and other work-from-home consultants. My anecdotal count was about 50%. This made me glad I picked the topic I did: passion + inspiration = innovation.
This could have been the basis for a much longer talk, but I wanted to fit the core pieces of the process and philosophies I used to quit my job 6 years ago (ok, I was fired), to become a freelance consultant, and more recently organize a team to begin work on a Web 2.0 idea that seems to have legs.
One part entrepreneurial rally cry, two parts iterative dissection of internet trends, and one part philosophical meta-rant; this talk adds up to be one hell of a thought provoker – at the minimum – and could easily be expanded upon.
I’m going to post the pdf for now, but I’m plan on breaking each slide down in future posts. I appreciate all the feedback I got after I gave this presentation, and I hope it inspired you to take some action!
I would like to see a continuation of the topic
Thanks. I’ll see what I can do.
